King Faisal striker Zubairu Ibrahim has expressed his delight following his superb hat-trick that propelled his outfit to victory over Asante Kotoko in the Ghana Premier League on Sunday.
The Isha Allah boys ended the Porcupine Warriors unbeaten run in matchday 6 of the domestic top-flight on Sunday with a 3-2 win in the Ashanti derby.
Zubairu Ibrahim opened the scoring in the fourth minute and scored again 14 minutes later as King Faisal ended the half ahead.
Before halftime, Kotoko were awarded a penalty but referee Julian Nunoo rescinded the decision after consulting fourth official Daniel Laryea.
Kotoko returned from the break determined to preserve their unbeaten run. They halved the deficit two minutes into the half courtesy of Omgba.
The Porcupine Warriors pushed more men forward in search of the equalizer and they paid the ultimate price as Ibrahim completed his hat-trick in the 68th minute.
Omgba scored his second in the 72nd minute and set up a nerve-wracking ending to the game. King Faisal were resolute to withstand the constant attacks by Kotoko.
Speaking after the game, Ibrahim expressed delight in his hat-trick against giants Kotoko and is confident his outfit can make an impact this season.
“I believed we could play against Kotoko considering our performance in our first three matches”
“I will thank God for this, scoring a hat-trick against a big team like Kotoko excites me. Looking at how things are going, I believe King Faisal can do something his season” he said.
Zubairu has scored four goals this season.
