The Ghana Football Association will be laughing to the bank after receiving $50,000 for finishing third in the 2022 Kirin Cup tournament in Japan.
The Black Stars after suffering a humiliating defeat to Japan made amends to beat Chile to finish third in the tournament.
The Asian country inflicted a 4-1 win over the West African powerhouse last Friday.
But on Tuesday morning, the Black Stars clinched a bronze medal after defeating Chile on penalty shootouts in the third-place fixture.
The four-time African champions defeated the Chileans 3-1 in a penalty shootout after the entire duration of the game had ended in a scoreless draw.
The four-nation tournament dubbed Kirin Cup was organized by Japan as a preparatory competition for the 2022 FIFA World Cup which Ghana, Tunisia, and the Samurai Blues of Japan have all qualified to participate in the tourney slated for November to December 2022.
Ghana qualified for the 2022 FIFA World Cup after eliminating their sworn-rivals Nigeria in the final playoff games.
The Black Stars are in Group H alongside Portugal, South Korea, and Uruguay.
