Kofi Adams, the Member of Parliament for the Buem Constituency, has expressed confidence in his readiness to lead the Ministry of Sports and Recreation. Nominated by President John Mahama, Adams is set to undergo vetting by the Appointments Committee before assuming the role.
The 49-year-old will succeed Mustafa Ussif, who served as Sports Minister since 2021 under the New Patriotic Party administration. Speaking to GHOne TV, Adams affirmed his preparedness for the task ahead.
“As a dedicated party member, I knew I would contribute to the administration in some capacity. While I was open to most ministries, I am honored to lead this one. I have studied and followed sports closely and believe we can collectively elevate its standards in Ghana,” he stated.
Adams is expected to spearhead improvements in sports infrastructure, enhance funding for national teams, and bolster performance at major international tournaments, bringing renewed hope to Ghana’s sports sector.
