Brother of Percival Kofi Akpaloo, the leader of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), has broken his silence on the politician’s recent arrest, saying the family was initially kept in the dark about the circumstances surrounding his detention.
In an interview with Okay FM, he recounted that officials from the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) picked Mr. Akpaloo up from his home and transported him to Accra without providing any explanation.
“They picked him up without telling us why. Even now, we are only piecing together the details from what has emerged later,” he said.
His remarks come amid heightened public interest in the case, which has since drawn comments from the Deputy Attorney General, Justice Srem Sai.
According to Mr. Srem Sai, Mr. Akpaloo was arrested on September 3, 2025, over allegations including fraud, causing financial loss to the state, dissipation of public funds, and money laundering.
He was granted a GHC10 million bail with two sureties but remains in EOCO custody pending the fulfilment of his bail conditions.
