Armed Police Personnel reported to be members of the Covid-19 task force operating in the Eastern regional capital in Koforidua on Sunday night went on a rampage by vandalizing and beating revelers at pubs.
The pubs vandalized by the Police personnel are A-class pub in Effiduase, Pub 7 in Asokore, Kofcity Pub at Agartha Market, Chip in the Pub at the magazine and Total -2.
Mybrytfmonline.com has in possession pictures and videos of broken bottles and injuries sustained by some customers.
The action of the Police Officers was to enforce the President’s directive suspending public gatherings.
The pubs were reportedly having more than the stipulated maximum number of 25 seated in groups around tables in each of the affected pubs.
A controversial supporter of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), known as Aboagye, told mybrytfmonline.com that the action of the police was excess.
He said he will report the incident to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) in Accra in the coming days.
Meanwhile, some owners of the affected pubs say they will petition the Regional Police Command to call the men to order.

The lockdown took effect Monday, March 30, 2020.
