GB Foods’ social impact wing – GBHub Africa, has provided $50,000 investment package to a Koforidua based -GreenHeart SE, an agritech company that transforms organic biomass waste into carbon-negative agricultural product.
The investment package structured as a local currency loan with a 5% interest rate in Ghanaian cedis, includes a six-month moratorium and a 60-month repayment period.
This funding will enable GreenHeart SE to expand its biomass recycling capacity to sequester thousands of tonnes of CO₂ emissions while advancing sustainable agricultural practices.
As part of the agreement,GBHub Africa will provide technical assistance and draw strategic interventions to support key initiatives of Greenheart SE.
“This investment of $50,000 will enable us to scale production capacity to 1,000 tons annually, including 600 tons of #biochar, contributing to the avoidance of over 1,200 tons of CO₂e emissions. As part of our commitment to Carbon Dioxide Removal (#CDR) projects, this initiative reinforces our role in promoting regenerative agriculture while pioneering climate-smart solutions” Said Caleb Lomo ,Lead at Greenheart SE.
Greenheart SE is implementing Emission to Solutions #E2S Project aims at addressing Scope 1 carbon emissions in agricultural processing facilities by transforming agricultural waste into biochar, a carbon-negative product.
Greenheart SE recently launched Carbonizers to convert 3000 tonnes of Smoke into 600 kilos of biochar and 75,000 litres of crop protection solution while reducing 2,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
Additionally, the project plans to assist 5,000 farmers in its initial phase.
Beyond #biochar, ” we are capturing and condensing the smoke from the pyrolysis process into a broad-spectrum natural crop protection and soil improvement solution—a powerful alternative that leaves no microbial resistance and enhances farm productivity” said Caleb Lomo.
He stated that, the investment is more than financial support; it is a strategic partnership that strengthens Greenheart SE’s ability to scale innovations, create impact-driven solutions, and expand reach to thousands of farmers.
“With this backing, GreenHeart SE is set to make a lasting impact on 5,000 farmers in 2025, fostering resilient agricultural practices and empowering communities”. Caleb Lomo stated.
On his part,Mr. Nelson Madiba Amo, Executive Director for GBHub Africa, mentioned that the partnership is manifestation of their commitment to enhancing Africa’s Food Systems to support livelihoods of the people.
He said the investment will help push Ghana’s renewable energy effort for future investment for food security and climate action.
