The Koforidua Area of The Church of Pentecost has provided Ghc30,000 worth of food items to Pentecost Senior High School in Koforidua, the Eastern regional capital
to mitigate food shortage crises in the school.
Pentecost SHS (PENSEC) was among many Senior High Schools in the country that run out of food due to delays by the National Buffer Stock Company to supply the schools in the face of nonpayment of funds by the government.
Management of PENSEC was struggling to feed the students. For instance, students have for many weeks taken porridge and tea without bread.
Headmaster of the school Peter Attah Gyamfi sent an emergency appeal to the Chairman of the Church of Pentecost Apostle Eric Nyamekye who authorized the Koforidua Area Head, Apostle Samuel Osei Asante to issue a Ghc30,000 cheque to the school.
Management of the School received the cheque last week Friday to purchase the food items according to their needs The food items include 40 Cartons of evaporated milk, 30 boxes of Mackerel, and 20pieces of 25litre gallons of Vegetable oil and 20 bags of Flour.
The Headmaster of PENSEC Peter Attah Gyamfi told Mybrytnewsroom.com that, When it was reported to the Church that we have food challenges, the Chairman of the Church of Pentecost Apostle Eric Nyamekye directed the Area Head Apostle S.O Asante to Issue cheque of Ghc30,000 to the school to support the food challenges and indeed as promised Area Head did exactly so and a cheque was issued in the name of the school. Last Friday, we were able to use the money to purchase some food items that were in dire need “.
Mr Peter Attah Gyamfi commended the Church of Pentecost for the intervention and urged other churches, old students associations, and NGOs to emulate and support the schools in these difficult times.
