Residents of Debrakrom, an electoral Area in New Juaben South Municipality of the Eastern region are appealing to the Assembly and waste management giant Zoomlion Limited to provide additional waste containers to help contain huge waste generated in the community.
According to the residents, the entire community has only one waste container positioned at the waste collection centre.
This , they say creates pressure on the container which leads to daily spillover of the waste raising health concerns.
The Assembly Member for the Area, Kwasi Debrah accused the Municipal Chief Executive of New Juaben South Ike Appaw Gyasi of not living up to expectation on waste management in the Municipality.
He said many parts of the Municipality have similar challenges but the MCE has not shown a commitment to solving the situation.
The Assemblymember explained that some communities around his Electoral area do not have waste containers, therefore, the residents dispose off waste at Debrakrom waste Collection centre which is also not frequently emptied by Zoomlion leading to spillover daily.
