A senior High School graduate of Asamankese SHS was rescued Wednesday afternoon from drowning in the flood waters at Koforidua Srodae in the Eastern Regional capital after hours of torrential rainfall.
The victim violently fell into the storm drain in an attempt to cross.
She was carried away by the flood water flowing from the Srodae community to the Prince Boateng roundabout but fortunately, an eyewitness raised an alarm attracting passersby and shop owners around to chase and rescue the victim from the flood waters at the Prince Boateng roundabout area.
The victim sustained an injury on the head and suffered some bruises and nearly suffocated.
She was rushed to the Eastern Regional hospital and admitted.
Parts of the Eastern region recorded a downpour Tuesday, September 28, 2022, which caused flash floods in many towns including the regional capital.
The Koforidua Prince Boateng roundabout is flood-prone due to the inability of shallow drains choked with rubbish to contain the volume of flood waters that descends from the hilly part of the community.
