Some well-known food joints in the twin municipality of Koforidua in the Eastern Region have expressed disappointment over the continuous dwindling of sales since the first case of COVID19 was conformed in Ghana.
Residents now prefer preparing their own foods at home to buying from vendors for fear of being infected with the novel coronavirus pandemic.
Prior to the invasion of COVID 19, workers in Koforidua on any day have their own joints where they eat in the morning before entering their various offices at midday when on lunch break
The most popular Aunty Yaa Akpele located in Koforidua Old Estate is one of the most visited food joints that any day when you visit the place from 9:00am going, one cannot get even a ball of Akpele to buy.
At 6:00am to 8:30 am, the place is always filled with workers trooping to the place to eat.
However, at 9:50 am when this reporter visited the place today, there was lots of food available with only a handful of people coming in to eat their usual delicacy.
Speaking in an interview with Aunty Yaa, she said sales have not been the same, unlike the previous times.
She said although she ensures that the safety precautions are adhered to by anyone who visits the place, she can count not more than 15 people who visit her food a day.
Also, it was observed that one popular waakye joint near the former Unibank adjacent to the PROTOA station, was virtually empty.
On a normal day, three-person use to serve the customers but a visit to the place today saw only one person behind the food who was also seating ideally with no one coming in to buy.

Ghana has so far recorded 153 positive cases of the novel COVID 19 with five deaths and two recoveries.
Meanwhile, for the past 24 hours, no new case has been confirmed by the Ghana Health Service.
