Authorities of the Koforidua Hospital have expressed concern about the rate at which patients have been absconding without paying their bills and have appealed to the people to register with the National Health Insurance Scheme.
The Acting Medical Director of the Hospital, Dr Cardinal Newton, in a media briefing on Friday, February 14, 2020, said patients run away with bills totalling GHC210 in 2019.
In resolving this alarming issue, authorities have decided to improve on the security system of the hospital in their bid to get rid of fleeing patients in subsequent years.
He said, patients, running away with huge sums of money affect the hospital in so many ways and is keen to strengthen the security of the hospital.
He adds that the four main gates of the hospital will be provided with adequate security personnel.
He entreated people to register onto the National Health Insurance Scheme and is of the view that, they will take their money from the insurance scheme should one run away with their money whilst having insurance.
