The Municipal Chief Executive of New Juaben South Isaac Appaw Gyasi has hinted at decongesting the Juaben Serwaa market by removing all unauthorized structures.
According to the MCE, several efforts to carry out this exercise in the past were resisted by the affected market woman.
The MCE said this when he visited the scene of the fire which ravaged more than 20 shops in the Juaben Serwaa Market in Koforidua in the Eastern Regional Capital.
The incident happened Wednesday dawn.
Some traders trooped to the market upon hearing the incident in an attempt to salvage items from their shops.
Fire Fighters arrived at the scene swiftly after receiving distress calls but were struggling to have easy access to the scene.
After many minutes wandering around, they were able to douse the fire preventing it from consuming many other shops.

The Juaben Serwaa Market is the second-largest and populated market center in the New Juaben South Municipality.
The Ghana National Fire Service has commenced an investigation into the cause of the fire incident.
