Koforidua Diocese of Anglican Church will soon commence construction works for ultramodern hospital facility which will focus primarily on maternal healthcare .
Dozens of Pregnant women continue to lose their lives in Eastern region every year.
The Eastern Regional hospital alone recorded 46 pregnancy related deaths in 2022 , although management blamed the situation to late referrals by District hospitals in the region.
The Eastern Regional Health Directorate has also identified postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) and hypertensive disorders as leading causes of deaths among pregnant women in the region.
The third Diocesan Bishop of Koforidua Amglican Diocese Rt. Rev. Felix Odei Annancy says the high rate of deaths among pregnant women in labour in the region is untenable therefore stakeholders must conduct proper clinical investigation and find workable solutions to it.
Rt. Rev. Felix Odei Annancy,said this during interview with the media at the sidelines of a fundraising and special eucharist service in aide of constructing a Hospital with specialist Maternity clinic in Koforidua at Mother Homecare to promote maternal health and safe delivery.
Nkosuohene of Kwahu Nkwatia Nana Owiredu Wadie I who chaired the fundraising ,donated over Ghc130,000 donation with support from family and friends.
Eastern Regional Minister Seth Kwame Acheampong and MCE for New Juaben South Ike Appaw Gyasi on behalf of government donated Ghc50,000 to support the project whilst Flagbearer Hopeful of NPP Alan Kwadwo Kyeremateng also donated Ghc50,000 plus bags of cement.
Alan Kyeremateng requested prayer for Ghana’s economy to rebound.
