Operators of drinking spots, pubs, clubs and other public places in Koforidua in the New Juaben South and North municipalities are complaining bitterly about the ban on noise making by the New Juaben Traditional Council.
The New Juaben Traditional Council since April 2022 has banned noise-making until the final royal funeral rites are performed for the late Paramount Chief, Daasebre Prof. Emeritus Oti Boateng and Nana Yaa Dani, the late Queen mother in May 2022.
In an interview with some operators of such public places, they stressed that the ban has really slowed down business as they are barred from advertising with megaphones and loudspeakers as they previously used to do.
Some drinking spots and pub owners also complained of not being able to hold programs since the ban as their activities normally come with noise.
Mobile phone dealers who use megaphones also complained about the ban as they are of the view that most people get their attention due to the use of the equipment.
However, many sections of the public are satisfied with the directive indicating it has reduced the high rate of noise pollution in the regional capital.
