But for the timely intervention of the police, there would have been chaos Monday morning at the Koforidua main station of the Eastern Region.
The misunderstanding was between operators of Reform Liberty Cooperative Transport Union and King Jesus Transport Union.
There have been series of confrontations between the two unions since the election of current executives of Reform Liberty as the leader of King Jesus Transport Union, Edward Marfo Boateng, is said to be the brain behind the confrontations.
Report indicated that, Mr. Edward Boateng, who was a former Chairman of Reform Liberty Municipal Cooperative Transport Union has failed to concede defeat, hence his intention to establish another transport union.
According to a reliable source, he is also the Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the New Juaben North constituency and because of that, trying to use his political power to intimidate others.
However, well-built men numbering about twenty were allegedly sent by Mr. Edward Boateng on Monday dawn, around 2am, to attack operators of Reform Liberty Union but unfortunately for them, the timely intervention by the police foiled the intended attack.
The police were able to calm down the situation until six o’clock in the morning before leaving.
The police, therefore, pledged to meet the New Juaben South Municipal Chief Executive with the union groups, over the matter to find a solution to the issue.
