A Police Officer at the Eastern Regional Police Headquarters with service number 46588 G/Cpl Prince Sylvester Opoku Amponsah has revealed growing intimidation and maltreatment by some Senior Officers against junior ranks in the Police service.
According to him, some Senior Officers abuse their powers by issuing indiscriminate service inquiries against junior officers who are not bootlickers.
However, the Police service pays little attention to petitions sent by these affected Junior Officers.
His comment came on the back of viral video capturing verbal exchanges between a junior Officer Robert Nsor and a commander on a street that the Ghana Police service is investigating.

Not everything you see is the truth. if video evidence is enough to find one guilty by now those seen in the video killing major Mahama would have been taken straight to prison.
It is very sad to see this but Ephesians 6-4 should guide us before we rush to slaughter the junior officer. Why will this young man be arrogant towards a man who can be his father? Do you think he does not want to keep his job?. There is more to this
I will never disrespect my father or anyone older than me. I will also not hail a father who does not respect himself as a responsible father. Senior officers are fathers to junior ranks.
Robert Nsor I know this junior officer and his family very well. He was my student at Airport International School. Part of the 2005 year group. If we say a family is down to earth, his family is a good example. His immediate elder brother is a Catholic Priest. Jonathan Ofori …his brother Rev. Fr. John Atta Adutwum is your mate.
For him to be this disrespectful means he has been pushed very hard to the wall and responding in this manner is the only option.
Is it true this senior officer called him and his team on-duty thieves and also told the drivers on the road they are thieves? Is it true the commander struggled with him to take his weapon for over 15 mins at the roundabout?
Respect is reciprocal. Good reason when a junior officer salutes a senior officer he salutes back. I have called him and he has narrated his side to me. For how long will junior officers be disrespected? I have been in his situation before so I understand. The staff officer Eastern Region is a witness to all the two incidents.
From 24th Dec. 2021, I have sent messages with my MTN number 0243151858 to the IGP himself asking if he will be happy if officers decide to kill to get justice. Why must I even dare send such a message to my IGP and father? This is because the police service pays little attention to petitions from junior officers. This is because some criminal officers will use service inquiries to destroy an innocent junior officer knowing very well even if he Petitions he will be ignored. A whole supreme court Judges who have learned lawyers to judgments are challenged and reviewed how many senior officers who are not lawyers and yet adjudicate on cases.
I wasn’t surprised when I read that his Commander and chief inspector too are alleged to have also threatened to kill the Commander in the video.
I am happy the service is investigating the issue.
