The Municipal Chief Executive for New Juaben South, Isaac Appaw Gyasi has alleged that some security personnel sabotaged the previous operation to clamp down on kingpins involved in commercial sex activities in Koforidua the Eastern Regional Capital.
He alleged that some security personnel leaked sensitive information to the suspects and hence escaped before the arrival of the operation team.
Koforidua has become a hub for commercial sex workers with sex traffickers taking advantage of bringing young girls from Nigeria to sexually exploit them.
The MCE denied the accusation of condoning and conniving with the sex workers.
“I cannot condone and connive on this menace. I am the first MCE to clamp down on these people. But the truth of the matter is that whenever we plan to raid the places then some moles will leak our operation plans to alert them to escape. When we get our intelligence and we sit to discuss plans to conduct the operation to swoop on them then some people leak the information. I don’t want to mention a specific security agency that does that”. He said on Movement TV
The MCE hinted that he is going to mobilize trusted security personnel like the military to help deal with the situation and demolish the illegal structures being used as brothels.
“I am coming to gather neutral agencies like the military and other security personnel who will not leak operational plans. It is a very serious issue”.
He continued that “We have Municipal Security Council which I chair and We have Regional Security Council REGSEC Which I am a member whenever we meet it becomes a topical issue which the Regional Minister is much concerned and committed to dealing with it but you need trustworthy security personnel who will not leak information to the suspects.
We will not allow them to bring shame to the municipality. We will swoop on them by surprise and arrest them and demolish the illegal structures they have built”
The MCE was responding to questions on investigations conducted by Obed Kojo Ansah, a Journalist based in Koforidua into the booming sex trafficking business in Koforidua, the Eastern Regional Capital of Ghana.

Pressure mounts on New Juaben South Assembly to demolish Bula Spot and Little Ben brothels.
Meanwhile, Pressure is mounting on the New Juaben South Municipal Assembly to demolish two major brothels being used by sex traffickers to accommodate their victims for sexual exploitation.
Bula spot and Little Ben brothels have become commercial sex hubs in Koforidua the Eastern Regional capital.
The facilities are rented out to sex traffickers who traffick young Nigerian girls to sexually exploit them.
City authorities have failed to demolish the illegal facilities over the years even though, the brothel in the Little Ben area is located near railway lines that belong to Ghana Railways Authority while Bula Spot has illegally converted its facility to a brothel.
Calls to demolish the brothels come after an investigation conducted by A senior Journalist based in Koforidua uncovered a serious sex trafficking menace involving both Ghana and Nigerian traffickers.
Owners of Bula Spot and Little Ben shoes in Koforidua, Eastern Region of Ghana have been identified and accused of aiding the sex trafficking of young Nigerian girls to Ghana with the tacit conversation of the places to brothels.
