A suspected cable thief has been lynched while tricycle set on fire at Abogiri, a suburb of New Juaben South municipality in Eastern region.
However,two of his accomplices managed to escape.
The victim and two others went to Junction-4 in Abogri community Thursday night to steal electricity cables mainly copper wires connected to homes.
The thieves succeeded in attacking two households, cut and stole the cables.
Luck however eluded them when they were noticed and pursued.
The two accomplices managed to escape leaving the rider of the tricycle.
He was arrested by the mob who tied him to a sign post, stripped naked and lynched him.
The victim is alleged to have confessed that they came to the area to steal cables.
A student bag containing books were retrieved from the tricycle.
Cable and transformer thefts are on the rise to in Eastern region with ECG officials raising serious concerns.
According to ECG seven transformers have been tempered within a month by the thieves.
