The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), for New Juaben North in the Eastern Region, Mrs. Comfort Asante has assured residents the assembly is putting measures in place to eradicate flooding during the rainy season.
The Koforidua Zongo, Asokore, the Adom washing bay among other places within the municipality are known to be flood-prone areas and have consistently been experiencing flooding whenever there is a heavy downpour.
The MCE, who disclosed this at a meet the press encounter with some journalists in the Eastern Region, said the assembly’s teams of engineers are constructing more drainage converts along those places to help curb the menace.
She indicated that the assembly though is just 18 months old after it was curved from the New Juaben Municipality, construction work to improve road networks and sanitation is currently ongoing in many communities.
“We are doing our best to solve the issue of flooding in some communities and I believe this year, the situation will not be the same as the previous years where people rooms are occupied by rainwater”, she said.
Touching on health, she said plans are far advanced to upgrade most of the health centers into polyclinics to assist quality health delivery for the people in the municipality.
She indicated that the government is was taking steps to ensure efficient and effective governance for all which were evident by several interventions put in being put in place one of them which is access to quality health care.
Commenting on education, Ms. Asante said 39 people made up of 22 males and 17 females are have benefited fully from government decentralized scholarship system to pursue their tertiary education.
Also on the Nation’s Builders Corps (NABCo), the MCE hip praise on personnel on the 414 personnel for their immense contribution to the fast growth of the Municipality.
She indicated that the success story of the assembly cannot be told without commending the hard work of all the personnel who are working under the various modules including educate Ghana, heal Ghana, feed Ghana, Revenue Ghana, Civic Ghana, and Enterprise Ghana.
Ms. Asante confessed to journalists that the academic knowledge of these personnel combined with the local government staff has contributed to the continuous strides of the assembly particularly in revenue mobilization.
“I must confess that all the NABCo personnel have been a blessing to this municipality. Those in the revenue department are bringing on board their book knowledge and it’s helping us in our revenue mobilizations. We cannot also forget those in the health and the education sectors in this municipality. We have been monitoring them and I can tell you we are yet to receive any complaint about them since they were posted to this area”, she said.
