Market Women at New Juaben South bear teeth against the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Isaac Appau-Gyasi over their forcible eviction from usual market place BODDY to chocked Agartha market.
Over 200 shop owners and yam sellers unhappily accused the MCE of failing to honour the people’s view to enable them do their business.
Madam Mavis Hammond and Madam Sadatu Yussif said the MCE was not being fair to them and appealed to the President, Nana Akufo-Addo to call the MCE to order since election year approaching and they needed to work to cater for their children fees and other things.
Mr. Muideen Belson said “’We are humbly appealing to the President to intervene to ensure peace and development in Koforidua, New Juaben South Municipality”
He said the MCE was causing serious disaffection among the traders, market women and his own party and if he was not checked it would bring disaster to the party and create huge disunity in the New Juaben South Constituency.
“We would not sit down unconcerned for the MCE to evict us, adding that they would resist ‘the oppressors’ rule’ of the MCE.
The women said there was no proper stakeholders’ meeting and the meeting at Chiefs palace the women were not allowed to share their concerns.
