Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko have announced the departure of Uganda international Steven Mukwala after the expiration of his contract.
Mukwala leaves as a free agent after failing to renew his contract with the Porcupine Warriors.
The Uganda star joined Kotoko in August 2022 under Nana Yaw Amponsah’s led management team.
He established himself as a key cog to the Ghanaian giants, scoring some important goals for the club during his two-year spell.
The 24-year-old will have to find himself a new club before the start of the new football season.
However, the highly rated attacker in a heartfelt message expressed gratitude to the club for the opportunity.
“This is probably the saddest day of my life as I say goodbye to a home that has given me a platform to grow in my football career. I want to thank His Majesty, the King for welcoming me to Ghana and I’m grateful honoured by your words of wisdom. In a special way, I want to thank Mr. Nana Yaw Amponsah for supporting me to play for one of the biggest clubs in Africa. I will always be thankful”
“I want to thank coach Prosper Ogum for believing in me in most difficult time and also, in a special way, I want to thank coach Kwesi Appiah for supporting me in challenging time. I want to also thank Mr. Newton Dasoberi”
“Lastly, I want to thank my teammates and the fans. I love the fans so much. We have shared good and bad times together. You have supported me unconditionally and you will forever be in my heart”
