Some branch executives of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Kumbungu Constituency have said that the “one term system” for MPs in the area is affecting the party and constituency greatly, calling on the delegates to ensure that they retain the incumbent, Professor Adam Hamza.
In a video chances on by ghdominancenews.com, one of the branch executives from Mbanaayili, Vogu, Bognaayili and Kochim delegates who is seen in a viral video addressing his colleagues at a meeting reminded them that the issue has affected the constituency greatly, and must not be repeated this time around.
“Our MP (Prof Hamza) has suffered so much after taking over from his predecessor. Our MPs need more time to bring the development we want in the Kumbungu Constituency. That is why I am appealing that we should give him the second chance”.
“The reason why some are saying he is not working is because he just came”, he told the gathering.
After Imoro Yakubu Kakpagu was defeated in 2012 primaries by his predecessor, Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni, the later couldn’t complete his term, but had to leave for ECOWAS assignment which resulted in bye-election in the constituency.
CPP parliamentary candidate, Moses Amadu Yahaya won in April 2013 and was also defeated in 2016 elections by former MP, Ras Mubarak who also spent only one term in parliament because he lost in the parliamentary primaries to the incumbent, Professor Adam Hamza.
