A ten (10) year old boy died while four (4) others were seriously injured after a car rammed into a shop.
The suspect driver Charles Appiah was in charge of a Hyundai Saloon vehicle with registration number GE 4826-20 driving from Kwahu Abetifi township towards Pepease however on reaching a section of the road, he suddenly veered off the road and run into a metal container shop at the nearside of the road crushing four (4) children and a 24-year-old adult.
The injured children are 4,10,6, and 17 years who were in the shop with the 24-year-old.
All five victims were rushed to Abetifi hospital for medical attention but victim Emmanuel Srebuor Snr, 10, died while receiving treatment. The rest are responding to treatment
The accident occurred around 7:00am on Sunday, April 17, 2022.
Meanwhile, a VW minibus with 20 passengers aboard from Kwahu Atibie to Nkawkaw has also been involved in a near-fatal accident on Sunday.
According to DSP Ebenezer Tetteh, the Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command “At about 4:30 am the suspect driver, Kelvin Annor Safo 32 years of age was driving the VW minibus with the registration number GE 6462-22 with 20 passengers but on reaching a section of the road in a sharp curve whilst descending the hill, the vehicle veered off the lane and fell at the right end of the road”
The occupant sustained various degrees of injuries and they were rushed to the Holy government hospital at Nkawkaw for treatment” he explained.
He said, the police have so far visited the accident scene and the accident vehicle has been towed, and the victims have also been visited at the said hospital and they are responding to treatment.
DSP Ebenezer Tetteh appealed to the general public and all drivers to be cautious and ensure that their vehicles are in good condition whilst they ensure that they don’t drive under the influence of alcohol and they rest well.
