The Kwahu Traditional Council has categorically stated that people should keep their fingers cross as they are yet to decide if the Kwahu Easter celebrations will come off or not amid coronavirus.
The traditional authority believes that it’s too early to decide on whether or not Kwahu Easter would be celebrated following the coronavirus outbreak.
Speaking to Bryt FM reporter, Kwahu AkyeameHene Nana Asiedu Kwarbeng IV on behalf of the Kwahu Traditional Council praised the president for re-imposing the ban on public gathering.
Adding that, the President delivered what the traditional authority has planned to do, hence the need to enforce the law to ensure the citizens are safe so far as covid-19 is concerned.
“For now, no one can decide whether or not Kwahu Easter festive would be celebrated. Let’s protect our life first, that is the most important thing. The Easter celebration is always there for us but it will be difficult for one to say the Easter would be called off, or vice versa.” he stated.
Last year, celebrations and other related activities were suspended indefinitely in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.
A statement from the Kwahu Traditional Council dated 16th March 2020 stated that the only reason one should visit any of the palaces should be for circumstances beyond their control.
Engagements by Nananom within the Kwahu Traditional Council were cancelled adding that Akwasidae should be celebrated with minimal contacts and restricted to indoor traditional ceremonies.
Moreover, following the current state of the virus in the country, President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has re-imposed the ban on public gatherings as part of measures to contain the rise in COVID-19 cases in Ghana.
While addressing the country on Sunday, President Akufo-Addo said all parties, weddings and concerts are effectively banned until further notice. He warned that anyone found breaking the new directive will be severely dealt with.
