A timber truck driver has been crushed to death by a timber he was transporting .
His mate sustained life threatening injury and has been admitted at Atibie Government Hospital.
The accident occurred Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at about 7:30 on Kwahu Abetifi to Abene road in the Kwahu East District of the Eastern Region.
According to a witness, the logging truck trailer with registration number GR 5812-19 was carting three big logs of timber but suddenly one of the timber violently surged forward from the moving truck while descending a hill and crushed off the head of the truck before fallen off.
Onboard the trucks were the driver and his mate whose names were given as Baba Musah and Amoako Aaron respectively.
The driver of the truck -Baba Musah, 45, died instantly but his mate Amoako Aaron, 38, was rushed to Atibie Government Hospital after he was extricated by a joint team of the locals, police and ambulance service personnel who went to the scene.
The Abetifi district office of the Ghana National Fire Service couldn’t help because they do not have extrication equipment.
