The Kwahu Obo Traditional Council is meeting today Monday, April 19, 2021, over assault on the Chief of Pitiko in Afram Plains South District in the Eastern Region.
The Chiefs will perform rituals to purify the stool and invoke the wrath of Nananom on the perpetrators.
Mybrytfmonline.com has gathered that the Obo traditional council has also summoned the Krontihene of Pitiko traditional area Nana Adu Parko II who allegedly sanctioned the violent assault.
The Chief of Kwahu Pitiko Nana Frimpong Akoamire was severely assaulted, kicked and dragged almost naked on the gravelled ground and paraded on the street by unknown armed wielding thugs.
The thugs numbering about thirty (30) and armed with guns, sticks, machetes and other offensive weapons invaded the house of the chief at night around 9:00 pm when the Chief was seated in the house having discussions with his sister and the Queen-mother for the area.
Nana Frimpong Akoamire narrated that “I was in the house with my queen mother and my sister when they suddenly invaded my house, started smashing my car parked in front of the house. They were fully armed with machetes, knives and pistols so I decided to take cover into the room but two of the men wielding pistol stopped me and started beating and slapping me with the machetes and even seized my phone”.
The thugs dragged the Chief who was wearing a short dress on the floor, paraded him through the town to Adomasua where they put him on a motorbike to Tease.
“They dragged and paraded me to my Krontihene at Tease who confirmed sanctioning the action of the thugs. He asked why I’m parading as Chief. He ordered them to bring me to the police station and he took the lead together with his accomplices.”
“At the police station, he confirmed that he admitted the act, but the police allowed him and the boys who did that to me to go freely after taking my phone from them for me and left me on the floor and told me to get up and go to the hospital since I requested for medical form myself” he added.
The injured Chief was later sent a clinic and was referred to Atibie government Hospital where he has been treated and discharged.
The Chief was given a police escort on Thursday, April 15, 2021, by Abetifi Police Command to return to Tease Police station to write his statement to Police.
The incident has been linked to a chieftaincy dispute surrounding the rightful heir to the stool.
No arrest has been made.
The District Chief Executive for Afram Plains South ,George Ofori has been accused of supporting the Krontihene to perpetuate the atrocities.
The Krontihene is said to be moving round the traditional area in the vehicle of the DCE.
Efforts to get both the Krontihene and the DCE for their reaction proved futile however when they respond to this allegation, it will be published.
