The Environmental Health Unit of the Kwahu West Municipal Assembly will next week drag about 12 persons before the court for selling and dealing in expired products.
The expired, bloated and rusted food, alcoholics and provisions were found been sold out to the public despite its state at the time of seizure by the Health Unit.
The District Environmental Health Officer, Joseph Krampah, in an exclusive interview with mybrytfmonline reporter, Kwabena Nyarko Abronoma, revealed that about 12 out of the many persons found to be selling such products have been processed for court as they were intentionally selling the unwholesome products to the public.
He added that the seized products would also be destroyed after securing a court order to ensure they do not get back onto the market again.
Mr. Krampah stressed the products were seized from stores, drinking spots, petty traders and other recreational centers within the constituency.
“We have processed about 12 persons for court because they were intentionally selling the unwholesome products knowingly. Others were not even aware the products have expired, so with such people, we just seize the products and educate them on how to identify expired products”.
“Most people don’t even know beer has an expiry date so we are still educating the public” Mr. Joseph Krampah stated.
