Former Deputy Youth and Sports Minister, Joseph Yamin has said that Adam Kwarasay was better than the other two goalkeepers selected for the 2014 FIFA World Cup which was hosted by Brazil.
Yamin responding to assertions that Ghana FA officials influence player selection into the national said that player influence is real but it is not a problem for the team.
The Black Stars failed to live up to expectations in 2014 after they were booted out from the competition in group stages.
Before the tournament, Kwesi Appiah named Adam Kwarasay, Fatau Dauda, and Stephen Adams as goalkeepers in his final 23-man squad.
Kwarasay after marking the post for the Black Stars against the USA which ended in a 2-1 defeat for Ghana was relegated to the bench.
However, Fatau Dauda became the number choice goalkeeper for the team in subsequent games but Yamin who was with the team at the time says he would have stick to Adam Kwarasay if he was the coach.
Speaking to Bryt FM, he said, “The truth is that coaches select players into the national team’s base on favorite. You cannot tell me Fatau Dauda was a better goalkeeper than Adam Kwarasay during the 2014 World cup. Everybody knew Kwarasay was our best goalie but how come Fatau marked the post for us? He quizzed.
