Ministry of Youth and Sports spokesperson Kofi Asare Brako has stated emphatically that the former head coach of the Black Stars, Kwasi Appiah buckled the national team despite the opportunity given to him.
Brako’s comment comes following Appiah’s decision to drag the Sports Ministry to FIFA over unpaid entitlements.
Speaking to Peace FM, he affirmed that the former trainer following his exit from the national team did not build a formidable side for the country and is of the view that he (Appiah) collapsed the team instead.
He added that the 59-year-old should be thankful to the Football Association for not sacking him after failing to achieve the mandate.
According to him, despite giving him the platform again as Black Stars coach he was unable to leave a good legacy as he strongly believe that the 2019 African Cup of Nations was a disgrace.
“He should exercise patience because we will definitely pay him. I think threatening to drag the Ministry to FIFA is something that we are against because people outside the world may think we are not competent”
“It is not only Appiah that has not been paid, but you can also talk about his assistants, Ibrahim Tanko, Richard Kingston and Stephen Appiah. We are organizing ourselves to pay him” he said.
