The Eastern Regional minister, Seth Acheampong joined a community engagement and Sensitization Workshop organised by National Alternative Employment and Livelihood Programme (NAELP) at Kyebi.
The workshop was under the auspices of the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources as they rolled out of the first phase of land reclamation exercise.
Some mining sites in selected areas in the Atiwa West and Abuakwa South municipalities in the Eastern Region were targeted.
The minister stressed the need for government’s land reclamation efforts to be embraced and sustained by all to serve its intended purpose.
Ghana is currently battling with the outcome of illegal mining which has degraded vast lands and also polluted water bodies.
