The Asamankese Circuit Court presided over by His Honour Abubakari Abass Adams has sentenced a 24-year-old Labourer to Five years imprisonment in Hard Labour for stealing Fero Mobile phone worth ¢400.00.
Moses Boahen, also known as Alijoe pleaded guilty when he was charged for stealing and was convicted on his plea.
Giving details of the case to the court, Detective Chief Inspector Owusu Achiaw said the complainant is a security officer at Ghana Oil Palm Development Company in Kwae Estate and the accused person is also a laborer in Kwae.
The prosecution said on 8th February 2020, the accused and his accomplice, now in prison went to the Palm Development Company Farm in Kwae to steal palm fruits.
Their intention failed when one security officer guiding the farm heard a noise and moved to the area and saw them packing some stolen palm fruits.
The complainant was beaten by the accused person and his accomplice and Moses Boahen took his phone away when he attempted to call other security guards for support.
The accused who run away with the phone was later arrested in Adesina near New Abirim and handed over to the Police for arrest and prosecution.
