Dr. Bossman Asare, Deputy Commissioner in charge of cooperate Affairs has announced that serial numbers on ballot papers for Ahafo and Volta regions were incorrect hence the decision to burn them.
“We found mistakes with the serial numbers on ballot papers and had to intervene immediately as the only option is to burn the ballot papers and order for new printing” he stated.
Dr. Asare disclosed this during an interview with Bryt fm Adekye Mu Nsem hosted by Kwamina Sem Biney on Monday, November 18, 2024.
“For Ballot integrity, it’s will be good to change the printing house and order different house to be in charge of that, since all the equipment use for printing has been taken from them” he stated.
He, however, debunked the NDC claim that its agents found the anomalies, saying, there are EC officials and agents of the parties who are all mandated to ensure smooth printing of the ballot papers.
“We saw it long time, so how can the NDC say that? We met all the patties to inform them about this issue to ensure ballot integrity, so we have order different houses to take over the printing of ballot paper for the Volta and Ahafo regions” Dr. Asare stated.
Dr. Bossman Asare added “With the special voting which will come off on December 2, a total of over 130,000 voters are expected to vote while over 18 million voters are also to exercise their franchise during the normal voting on December 7”.
