Lamine Yamal is the player who suffers the most racist attacks on social media in Spain.
A study published by the newspaper El País shows that 60% of football-related insults target the young Barcelona player; Vinicius Jr. appears in second place with 29%, and Kylian Mbappé is third with 3%.
The peaks of insults occur during high-profile matches, especially El Clásico. Terms such as “monkey son of a b**” and “go back to your country” frequently appear in messages directed at Black players like Lamine, Balde, Raphinha, Vinicius, Brahim and Mbappé.
The research also shows which clubs concentrate the most hate attacks. Real Madrid leads with 34%, followed closely by Barcelona with 32%, and Real Valladolid with 17%.
