The Human Trafficking Secretariat (HTS) under the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP) in collaboration with Verite, has organized a Two-day ‘Capacity Building Workshop on Human Trafficking and Forced Labour for some selected Law Enforcement Officers’ in Accra.
The training aimed to help officers understand, identify and address forced labour risk and human trafficking in their field of work.
It was also to build the capacity of the participants on forced labour and ILO’s forced labour indicators, its approach and how it aligns with their work.
The International Labour Organisation’s (ILO) forced labour indicators help to understand forced labour and its risk across a group of people and what the nature of the risk looks like. Identifying the indicators at play helps illuminate what the root causes are, this can give an informed concrete action steps to improve the lives of the officers
As part of the training, law enforcement officers discussed, analyzed case study scenarios, and shared field related experiences.
Verite is an Independent, Non- Profit, Civil Society Organization (CSO) that works globally with governments, multi-national corporations, Supplier, Unions, NGOs and Labour advocates on mitigating risk to workers and ensuring that people work under safe, fair and legal conditions.
The training workshop started on Wednesday 12th July and ended on Thursday, 13th July 20.
