Lawyer Isaac Minta Larbi, accompanied by New Juaben South Constituency Chairman Selassie Amuzu and other NDC executives, paid a surprise visit to nine party members currently serving a 21-day prison sentence for contempt of court at the Koforidua Prisons.
The nine convicts also serve as executives of Heritage Transport Union at the Koforidua Lorry Station, were embroiled in a legal dispute between transport unions, resulting in their conviction by the Koforidua High Court for contempt.
Reacting to the situation, Lawyer Larbi swiftly intervened, coordinating with the lawyer handling the case and filing an application for their discharge, slated to be heard on Friday, 1st March.
Before the court hearing, Lawyer Larbi, expressing concern for the well-being of the imprisoned individuals, decided to visit them at the Koforidua Prisons.
Joined by Chairman Amuzu and other constituency executives, Larbi engaged with prison officers on their behalf and provided the convicted members with packs of fried rice and water as a gesture of support.
“We are here to show our solidarity and provide assistance to our party members in their time of need,” stated Lawyer Larbi during the visit.
The imprisoned individuals, in turn, expressed gratitude for the visit, lauding Chairman Amuzu for his steadfast support and thanking Lawyer Larbi for his efforts in seeking their release.
“We are thankful for the support from our party leadership and legal representatives. We remain hopeful for a positive outcome,” remarked one of the imprisoned members.
