The Ledzokuku Krowor Municipal Assembly (LEKMA) has demolished unauthorised buildings near the A-Life Junction in Teshie.
The assembly said that the action was taken in compliance with the government’s order to district, municipal, and metropolitan assemblies to demolish structures on waterways.
The chief executive of LEKMA, Mordecai Quarshie, said all affected persons were given enough notice to relocate and also went through counselling sessions on the urgency of leaving the area.
He said 320 buildings situated near waterlogged areas will be demolished at the end of the exercise.
The expense of the exercise, he said, would be passed along to the structure owners as additional fees.
Quarshie served notice that the assembly will sanction officials issuing unauthorised permits to the public.
