On Thursday 11th September, 2025, Togbe Afede, the Agbogbomefia of Asogli state had the honor of joining women at the Asogli Women’s Day Celebration held at the GM Afeti Auditorium.
The program, chaired by Ambassador Sena Siaw-Boateng, was a remarkable gathering that underscored the importance of empowering women and recognizing their invaluable contributions to our society.

Our Guest of Honour, who was supposed to be the Vice President of Ghana, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, was ably represented by Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts.
Other personalities such as; Hon. James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister, Hon. Amed Ibrahim, Minister of Local Government and Religious Affairs, Mr. Stephen Adom, MCE of Ho Central, Mr. Prosper Bani, Adviser on Security to H.E. John Dramani Mahama, the Paramount Queen of Asogli, Mamaga Akua Dei II.
Also in attendance were distinguished Chiefs and Queen Mothers, Students, women’s groups, members of the Security Services, and other organizations.

As part of the program, a cooking competition sponsored by Promasidor, producers of Onga, was also held. All meals were prepared using yam, and participants delighted the audience with creative dishes such as Tefufu (yam fufu), yam cake, yam pizza, yam meat pie, among others — showcasing both innovation and the versatility of yam in Ghanaian cuisine.
It was a truly educative and inspiring event that highlighted not only the challenges but also the opportunities before us in advancing the role of women in leadership and nation-building.
Togbe Afede commended all who participated and contributed to making the celebration meaningful.

“Together, let us continue to champion the cause of women, for when women rise, nations prosper” he added.
