Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the president has challenged Ghanaians to take advantage of the coronavirus crisis in the continent to strengthen Ghana’s domestic productive capacity to advance self-reliance and reduce our dependence on foreign imports.
He extended his appreciation to the World Health Organisation (WHO), the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, and friends of Ghana for the assistance they have, so far, provided, and for the pledges made in support of Ghana’s fight against the virus.
Delivering an address to the nation on Wednesday, 11th March 2020 to update Ghanaians on the Country’s preparation to fight coronavirus, the president said Ghana shall continue to work with them to defeat the spread of the virus and he was confident that, together, with all hands on deck, we will be successful in weathering this storm.
Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo said, he has directed the Minister for Finance, Hon. Ken Ofori-Atta, to make available the cedi equivalent of $100 million to enhance Ghana’s Coronavirus preparedness and response plan.
This amount, according to President Akufo-Addo, “is to fund expansion of infrastructure, purchase of materials and equipment, and public education.
