The Western North Regional EC boss, Mr. Godwin Oakley Oakley has explained that, in Western North Region, the exercise is taking place across its 9 district offices in the region, Tuesday, May 7, 2024, and as at the exercise started, the commission had not encountered any problems or challenges.
In an interview with Lord fm News, Mr Godwin Oakley, appealed to parents and guardians not allow politicians to influence their wards who are below eighteen years (18) to register, because, if caught, the law will not permit such children to go escort free.
He said, first-time voters should kindly consider their age, to avoid any trouble and be sure to follow the principles and the guidelines of the electoral commission (EC).
Mr. Godwin Oakley further reiterated that, the exercise is scheduled for three weeks, from May 7 to May 27, 2024 and any Ghanaian with sound mind and eligible to register must go out and do so.
He, added that, “if you have registered in 2020 and 2023 should stop registering to avoid multiple registration to have a credible voter register”.
The EC has stated that the ongoing limited registration exercise aims to register approximately 623,000 first-time voters across the country.
The registration will take place in all 258 district offices of the commission, as well as an additional 785 centers to accommodate those who may find it difficult to access the district offices.
