Test results of about two hundred (200) quarantined staff of AFCON Company, Indian construction firm working on Tema to Akosombo – Mpakadan railway project is expected to be released Monday, April 6, 2020.
The samples were taken last week after one of the Indian Expatriate was tested Positive to COVID-19.
The case is the first to be recorded in the Eastern Region.
The staff have since last week been under Police guard to avoid escaping from the yard where they have been quarantined.

As at 4th April 2020, Ghana has recorded a total of 214 cases of COVID-19 with five (5) deaths. Currently, the number of regions reporting cases is as follows: Greater Accra, Ashanti, Northern, Upper West-Eastern, and Upper East Region. The Greater Accra Region has most cases (189) followed by the Ashanti Region (12), Northern Region (10), Upper West Region (1), Eastern Region (1) and Upper East Region (1).
Most of the cases are reported from routine/enhanced surveillance activities. Cases from travelers under mandatory quarantine are 90.
All five (5) deaths had underlying chronic medical conditions before COVID-19 infection.
Ghana recorded the first case of COVID-19 on March 13, 2020.
President of Ghana Akufo-Addo on March 27, 2020, announced a partial lockdown of the Nation’s Capital-Accra and Parts of Greater Kumasi for two weeks as an enhanced measure to prevent increasing community spread having closed down all Borders -Land, sea and Air spaces. The government also imposed mandatory 14 days quarantine for returnees in the country. Additionally, the President has established a COVID-19 Fund to help mobilize resources to fight the pandemic.
