Bawku Central Member of Parliament, Mahama Ayariga, has hailed the Ghana Armed Forces for their professionalism and commitment to maintaining peace amid the ongoing Bawku chieftaincy conflict.
Speaking at the inaugural West African Soldiers Social Activity organized by the 11 Mechanised Infantry Battalion in Bolgtabga, Ayariga praised the military’s dedication to safeguarding lives through patrols and civilian escorts in the troubled region. He also commended their efforts during the 2024 elections, describing their contribution to regional stability as “commendable.”
Highlighting the need for enhanced military infrastructure, Ayariga pledged to lead advocacy in Parliament to secure better facilities for the troops. He emphasized the importance of maintaining public confidence, urging the military to uphold their professionalism and integrity while supporting government efforts to resolve the conflict.
Ayariga also revealed plans by President John Mahama to ease curfew restrictions in Bawku to boost social and economic activities. He called on the public to continue cooperating with security agencies as efforts to achieve lasting peace intensify.
