The Presidential Candidate of the Opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC, John Dramani Mahama is beginning a four-day Campaign tour in the Eastern Region today November 5, 2020.
He will begin the tour from Akuapem South, Akuapem North, Okere, enters Yilo Krobo, Upper Manya, and Lower Manya Krobo on the first day.
Mr. Mahama will subsequently continue to other Constituencies including New Juaben South, Afram Plains South and North, Mpraeso, and Abirem
Mr. Mahama will be holding engagement meetings with various groups such as Chiefs, Fishermen, and traders during his tour.
The NPP polled 626,893 votes representing 63.11% while the NDC garnered 355,798 representing 35.83% in 2016 Presidential Election.
The Eastern Regional Secretariat of the NPP is however targeting 1 million valid votes cast in the region and at least 30 out of 33 Parliamentary seats but the NDC say its agenda to secure half of the valid votes cast in the region is still on course.
The NDC is however optimistic that the party will perform better in the 2020 election due to residents’ realization of John Mahama’s performance in the region juxtapose with the four years of President Akufo Addo who hails from the region yet has nothing to show in the region.
