The former Municipal Chief Executive for Akuapem North in the Eastern Region, Dennis Miracles Aboagye has criticized former President John Dramani Mahama for saying that the general elections in 2024 will be a do-or-die event.
Dennis Miracles Aboagye called the remarks made by the NDC presidential candidate in last year’s elections reckless. Mr. Mahama said the NDC had learned the lessons from the national elections in 2020. He added that the next 2024 elections will be a do-or-die event, particularly at voting booths.
Mr. Mahama, speaking to the people of Techiman, Tuesday, 7 September 2021, as part of the “Thank You Tour,” stated, “This present chairman has brought life and death to his elections, he has used his Delta troops and unseen forces in the security agencies. “You notice some officers from the army and police and inquire whether they are indeed officers. They wear earrings and everything and whether it is a police officer or a military, you can’t tell.
“We know that some of their personnel have penetrated safety “Look at the Techiman South, how they shot at the crowd, it was meant to murder people, we hope that we won’t witness situations like that again in the next elections,” he said
“We learned our lessons from the events of the 2020 elections. At the polling station, the 2024 elections will be won or lost. The polling booths will be do-or-die. The appropriate thing to do during the elections. We will win at the polling station and will not wait for results of a collation center nor will the Supreme Court request if aggravated,” he added.
In response, Dennis Miracles Aboagye condemned former President John Dramani Mahama for indicating that the 2024 general elections will be a do-or-die affair.
Mr. Dennis Miracles Aboagye described the comments by the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2020 presidential election as irresponsible, hence he must apologize immediately.
