The Krontihene of Akyem Asuom, Nana Boadi Amponim Obodade III, has commended President John Dramani Mahama for his exceptional performance in his first 120 days in office, predicting that the impressive start will keep the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in power well beyond 2028.
Addressing the media in Akyem Kade at the sidelines of the confirmation of the MCE for Kwaebibirem,the chief noted that President Mahama’s return to office has already started yielding positive results, winning over even his harshest critics.
“When President Mahama done serving his second term, many Ghanaians will contemplate urging him to continue to stay in power I am pretty sure that is what is going on in the minds of many. The NDC Agenda to reset Ghana wasn’t just based on the four years. It is an agenda that will go beyond 2028 and I can foresee that after 2028 Ghanaians will give the NDC another 20 years to build upon the good works. Resetting is just the foundation. We will go vertical afterwards and when we do that after 2048 I am sure out brothers from the other side will come with someone better” the chief stated.
The Krontihene compared President Mahama’s leadership prowess to that of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, stating that the President’s resilience after his 2016 defeat has paid off.
” I remember when in 2016 he lost then a lot of things were said about him, he went through a lot of stress but the good Lord who blesses abundantly has blessed him in such a manner that his enemies has now put to shame. He is now comparable to the Great Osagyefuo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah just like I said I said I hope that by the time President Mahama’s term ks over we will compare him to Osagyefuo at least he will be Dr. Kwame Nkrumah of Our times and so far so so good. He is delivering”.
He said the performance of President Mahama has made nonsense of the poor governance experienced under Akuffo Addo.
The traditional leader went further to forecast a long-term political dominance for the NDC, stressing that the party’s “Reset Ghana” agenda is not a short-term initiative but a blueprint for transforming the nation for decades.
