Malawi is grappling with rising suicide cases attributed to economic hardships, depression, and family disputes, among other reasons.
Malawi’s police confirmed that in the capital, Lilongwe, 366 cases were registered in 2023, compared to 269 cases in 2022.
Health activists are urging the government to urgently address mental illness in a bid to reverse the trend.
