Mali’s military government has seized gold stocks of Canadian mining company Barrick as part of a legal battle over revenue owed to the West African state.
The seizure, valued at around $180 million, follows a warning letter from Mali’s senior investigating judge, Boubacar Moussa Diarra.
The military government previously arrested four executives of the mining company and they are still being held.
Mali is one of Africa’s leading gold producers.
