Management of Bright Senior High School, a private institution at Akyem Kukurantumi in the Abuakwa North Municipality has condemned all acts of violence, assault, damage to school property, and any such similar vices in the recent student unrest.
On Thursday, 6th August 2020, students of Bright Senior High School attacked officials of the West African Examination Council (WAEC) supervising the on-going WASSCE examination in their schools after they clashed with the officials over social distancing in the examination hall, insisting the invigilators were too strict on them.
A journalist with the Daily Graphic in the Region who had gone to the school to report was also assaulted by the students leaving him with severe injuries.
Management of the school has therefore condemned any act of violence, assault, damage to property, and any such similar vices and they have vowed not to condone any student or teacher who perpetrates such activities.
The management in a press statement on Friday, August 7, said it was appalled by the unruly and riotous behavior of students in protest against the enforcement of stipulated examination rules and regulations.
“Our school has been built on virtuous standards of hard work, excellence, and integrity. This is evident from the fact that in spite of the fact that many private schools are suffering low enrolment with the introduction of free SHS, our school continues to enjoy high patronage” the statement reads.
“We are cooperating fully with law enforcement agencies to bring to justice any person(s) who might have engaged in any unlawful activity on the said day” the statement added.
