A 40 year old mason, Obed Afful has been jailed to five years imprisonment in hard labour for failing to render an acconts on sales of palm fruits estimated at Ghs63,000.00 from 2018 to 2020, property of a Dr.Alex Mensah.
The accused, Obed Afful,when he appeared before the Asamankese Circuit Court presided over by His Honour Ababakari Abass Adams was also sentenced two years dishonestly appropriating sales of 60 bags of maize valued at Ghs12,000.00 and another two years in jail for failing to account for the sale of 73 pigs valued at Ghs32,850.00 and another one year imprisonment for dishonestly appropriating chanfan machine used to process palm oil valued at Ghs3,500.00,all are properties of Dr.Alex Mensah Retired and the sentencses will run concurrently.
Detective sageant Wisom Banson,the prosecuting officer told the court that the complainant is a medical officer of St.Bernard Eye Clinic in kokomlemle in Accra while the accused is a resident of Kade.
The complainant has 42 acre of palm plantation at kobriso,20 acre farmland for maize in Akwadum and pig farm in kade and all were handed over to the accused as care taker on payroll but audith from 2018 to 2020 revealed that the accused person sold most of the items and failed to render an accounts to the owner.
Official report was made to the police upon Auditors report and the accused person was handed over to the police for prosecution.
