The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for New Juaben South, Hon. Ransford Owusu Boakye, has dismissed allegations by the constituency’s Member of Parliament (MP) that he has failed to sign official documents submitted to his office.
Responding to the claims in an interview on Bryt Adekyee mu Nsem, Hon. Boakye questioned the basis of the accusation, insisting that no such documents have reached his desk.
“If a letter is said to have been brought to me for signing, and I am saying it has not reached my desk, how then can I sign it?” he asked. “If you claim to have delivered something to someone, and the person says they have not received it, what should be the next step?”
The MCE stressed that as a public official, he has no reason to deliberately delay or refuse to sign official correspondence, especially when it relates to government business.
“We are all working in the interest of government. I will sign whatever is necessary when it gets to me. So why would I refuse to sign what I have not even seen? There is no truth in what he is saying,” he stated.
Hon. Boakye also emphasized the need for collaboration between his office and the MP to ensure development in the municipality, noting that he holds no personal grievances.
“He is the MP, and I am the MCE. We must work together to bring development to New Juaben South. I do not have any issues with him,” he said.
However, the MCE suggested there may be a misunderstanding or miscommunication regarding the alleged documents.
“I still believe there is some mischief or confusion surrounding this matter. It is possible the documents were handed to someone else and have not yet reached me. That is what I suspect,” he explained.
He added that he had hoped to meet the MP in person to clarify the situation and present evidence to resolve the issue.
“I wish he were here so I could show him something for him to better understand the situation and determine whether there is any need for anger,” Hon. Boakye added.
The disagreement began after the Member of Parliament publicly accused the MCE on a media platform of refusing to sign official documents submitted to his office, a claim the MCE has firmly denied.
