The ongoing confirmation exercise for Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executive (MMDCE) nominees in the Eastern Region has seen five more nominees approved, pushing the total number confirmed to 21 out of 33 nominees
At Akuapem South Municipality , Paul Osae Offei was confirmed and sworn into office on Monday after securing 25 out of 36 votes, representing 69.4 percent.

In Nsawam, Philibert Fummey Amenorpe polled 29 out of 39 votes, securing his position as the new MCE.
There was drama at the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Municipal Assembly on Monday when Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Frank Annor-Dompreh, was forced to take refuge after angry NDC supporters booed and chased him at the assembly premises.
The incident occurred shortly after the confirmation of Philibert Fummey Amenorpe as Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), a nominee many believe is Annor-Dompreh’s fierce political rival .
NDC supporters accused Frank Annor-Dompreh of plotting behind the scenes to influence the rejection of the nominee.

In Upper Manya Krobo, Emmanuel Kwasi Lawer received 38 YES votes against 9 NO votes, while in Ayensuano, Joshua Lartey obtained an overwhelming 40 YES votes with just 4 NO votes.
The confirmation process is being spearheaded by Eastern Regional Minister Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, with strong backing from the Regional Executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), led by Regional Chairman Dr. Mark Oliver Kevor.
Since the exercise began on Monday, nominees have been receiving one-touch endorsements across several municipalities and districts, including Mpreaso, Kwahu South, Kwahu East, Atiwa West, Atiwa East, Kwaebibirim, Achiase, Denkyembuor, Birim North, Birim Central, New Juaben South, Okere, Yilo Krobo, Lower Manya Krobo, and Asuogyaman.
At a brief address during the confirmation in Asuogyaman, Deputy Minister of Finance Thomas Ampem Nyarko encouraged political leaders and residents to set aside partisan differences and work together in the interest of the district’s development.

The exercise is expected to continue in the remaining districts in the coming days.
